Istanbul - Turkey 2009 > 2010
Simultaneously Oriental and European, modern and ancient, Istanbul swarms with ambivalences and paradoxes. Taksim, the city's most modern neighborhood, is a little box of freedom. Sibel, Tatiania, Rozalinda or Deniz all have a common trait. They are man and woman, transgender in a city where homosexuality is taboo and where the police ceaselessly try to clean up what cannot be seen during the day. Nevertheless, at night, the clients are there, numerous, in a country that counts the most transvestites after Brazil, a paradox in a conservative Muslim society.
